Moving forward suddenly, Two-Face reached out and put his hands either side of Edward's face, making sure he was looking at him and only him, meeting his eyes with a determined expression. "Find me Don Falcone and I will never raise a hand against you. Help me with my revenge and you'll have a friend. We're loyal, Ed. Always have been. We don't fuck with people who have our backs."
That was why Bruce Wayne wasn't on any of his lists. Or Jim. He could blame them, sure but he didn't want to. He wanted them to live, deep down. Or Harvey did, at least. "You have such a fucking beautiful mind, you handsome bastard. Use it for me?"
"You know how to sweet-talk me, Two-Face, you know that?" This was interesting. Last time Two-Face had only used plural pronouns, but this time he seemed to be switching it up. Edward wondered whether that was because he was speaking only for one half or because him and Harvey were closer to syncing on this.
"Don Falcone is well protected, I'll grant you, but that doesn't mean I can't find him. I can find anyone. Give you anyone." He had no reason to doubt his ability there. "There are factors to consider though. Falcone is still the king on the board to some, that means many pieces have to be considered. If it's Don Falcone you want, there are others to take care of. Momentarily, at least. No one fancies a shootout against Victor Zsasz."
"Let Zsasz have us, it's worth it. I want him dead. Can't sleep without knowing he's six feet under. Not we slept much before." Two-Face let go of Ed and picked up the drink, settling for that as a way to center himself and calm down. A little whiskey always helped to calm the nerves. "Can't help sweet talking you, Ed. You bring it out in us. Well, me."
Two-Face leaned towards Edward and dropped his voice, stage whispering to Ed with obvious amusement. "Sometimes you can know yourself really well and sometimes, you ain't got no clue. I think Harv knows jackshit about us."
"Zsasz won't have to have you. I have ideas for that. It's not the first time I've thought about how to take out Falcone." Wait. Edward clarified. "Contingency plans. Thought experiments. I like to have some ready for every big player in the city. I can deal with Zsasz for you, come the time."
He knew enough to figure out ways that would avoid it being an issue. At least an issue of Harvey being dead. Two-Face. Both. Because there definitely was a difference and Edward had to smirk, just imagining where this was going. Two-Face was more of a showman. He could appreciate that. "What do you know that he doesn't? I'm curious."
"I guess it's just that, depending on the mood and how we're feeling, I think we could go either way with just about anything." Two-Face looked Edward up and down before raising an eyebrow. And that was all he'd say. Harvey would work it out eventually, he could feel the cogs moving in their head. "Help us with Falcone and we'll split whatever he has left with you. Cause that old bastard isn't just about money, he's got a lot of information."
And he knew Edward valued that a lot. Money didn't seem to be of interest. "I remember when we raided his hideout. The dirt we saw, it was really something."
"Look at that. We have so much in common." Edward crossed his legs, because his pants could only hide so much, and he just felt the cocky confidence he was going for came across better when he wasn't quite so obviously turned on. "Falcone is an institution. I don't doubt I can find a lot around him. Could get a lot out of him, if you don't kill him too fast. Although those old bastards are always so stubborn, but under the right circumstances anyone talks."
He shrugged, reaching up to adjust his tiara. Beautiful. "I can be very persuasive."
"We don't doubt it, princess." Looking at Edward, he smiled as he watched him adjust the tiara, loving how it looked on him. It was run, it was a rush. A weird, happy rush. Not a dark rush like a gun or a fight but the sort of energy he had once, in his past, when he was with Gilda or hanging with Bruce. The thrill of connecting and meaning something to someone again.
"You know, Harv has good tastes. The tiara is perfect." He raised his glass and nodded to Edward. "Here's to further endeavours."
"To a bright future," Edward agreed, unable to raise a glass, since he had so generously given his to Two-Face. Therefore he leaned forward, covered Harvey's hand with his and used that to guide the glass to his lips, locking eyes with him as he tilted the glass and drank. He wasn't about to let him get drunk all along.
He licked his lips after swallowing. "I'll have a lot to think about tonight."
