"Well. That's ... not good, Edward. Really not good."

This is why he hated outsiders meddling. This was a powder keg, Oswald could easily see what would happen. Either Arkham would implode under the stress or, worse yet, the Joker would riot his way out and bring his anger out into the streets. And an angry Joker was a problem. Violent, scorned, vicious. And Oswald had a campaign to run. Fuck. He was silent for a while as he scanned over his options and considered what move would be best. He had a loony bin full of angry crazies on the verge of a breakdown and Waller meddling from the outside.

"The inevitable outcome is one of them will kill him and then Waller will retaliate. It'll get worse. If the Joker is the one to do it, you can imagine where this will go. I think we could avoid another governmental attack on Gotham." The last one left them isolated for a year. He didn't fancy that again.

Oswald exhaled a sharp sigh, drank his scotch and then made a decision. "Distance from a problem does wonders for solutions, does it not?" It did for him and definitely for Edward. "Edward, I do believe you're far too sane to be in there."
beaky: (that is a great point)

"Okay, hasty? Hmm."

Oswald pondered again for a moment, idly looking ahead at his campaign post and frowning. Then it struck him. Edward would be useful on the outside. Far, far more useful.

"You're hired!"

Oswald smirked and leaned back in his chair. "I need some support on my campaign so you're hired, my boy. Congratulations. And no one on my team can be stuck in Arkham, can they? I can perhaps come tomorrow and pick you up for your first day at work. Can't do today, Victor is going to a school play." Very annoying. "Besides, you need to rest up a little more."
