"It is. I think I made more changes as a rogue than I did in the system, going to court, working 80 hour weeks. It's a fucking waste." He busted his ass and got little reward so yeah, it was nice to see an impact when he actually did stuff. Like when he wanted things to go his way, they usually did. It was nice. He liked it. "I got friends in low places and I ain't gonna complain. I think the future of Gotham is gonna be shaped by the rogues. You, me, the fucking Joker and then Penguin and every other stupid name under the sun."
Harvey smirked and blew smoke aside, looking at Ed with a smile. "We can help each other. You can be my brain and I'll be your muscle. Within reason, of course. Just backing each other up, keeping each other safe. I got your back, Eddie." And he meant it. Genuine and real. "Let's see if we can't keep this shit going. Not all rogues betray."
"Sweetheart, if you never break into my apartment to make me come up with a plan for you at gunpoint in the middle of the night, you'll have done better by me than about 80% of the others." Honestly, he would have moved, but what was the point? The Joker was bound to find out his new address and from there it would always trickle down. Inevitable. "You've been accepted. Time was, the Joker and I would vet who was worthy. These days, it kind of seems to sort itself out. I can tell you're a big name."
Already was, really. "I won't even make you seal it with a kiss." The Joker usually did.
He didn't think he would have to kiss any rogue. He pulled a face and then looked off into the distance, mentally running through all the rogues and then relented, shrugging. "I mean, if I had to kiss any of the guy-rogues, it'd probably be you. You're the only one that doesn't actively repulse me." He debated it again and then looked at Edward. Then he laughed, giddy and easily amused. "I think I'd also rather kiss you than the girls in the club too cause, let's be real here, Pam would rip my dick off if I tried and Harls is under the Joker's dibs. So congrats, Ed, you're my most kissable rogue."
"Flattering as that is, I don't know if I have that much competition. I'm easily the best-looking of the bunch." No need for false modesty here. "Also the best hygiene." That was an easy one to win as well, worryingly enough.
Daringly, Ed put an arm around Harvey's shoulder, looking at him as he reached up with one hand to cup his face, on the good side. He gently ran a thumb along Harvey's lower lip, having a feeling that Harvey would let him. Harvey seemed to have found himself in an elaborate game of gay chicken, or perhaps he simply didn't care. Maybe he liked being touched, even if it was by Ed. Or maybe he'd teach him to like his touch especially.
"When we kiss," the 'when' was a very deliberate word choice, "it's going to be out of desire. Nothing more, nothing less."
"You're so certain, eh? Well. Universal genius, let's see if you're seeing something that's there or something that ain't."
Cause Ed could touch his face, fondle his chest and flirt as much as he liked but Harvey wasn't feeling much like kissing him. He liked him, in some ways he wanted him but he wasn't making a move. He wasn't there yet. Though he did like how Edward was, how he touched his face, as he spoke to him, the feelings he put into it. The game was fun.
