Those were a lot more suggestions of him being fallible than Edward was strictly speaking comfortable with, so rather than immediately discuss the many ways he could fail, he shifted himself more fully on top of Jonathan, because he figured turning him on again would be a victory in a small way. Good ego boost. He just had to be subtle about it, in a way, or Jonathan would get stubborn.
