"Nerves, huh?" Ed walked over to him again and then simply kept walking, one hand on Jonathan's chest until they hit the wall. He looked up to meet his eyes, smiling just a little bit. Yes, he was hyped, he usually was before a gig. "If it gets too much, Jonny, just stay calm and think of Gotham. It's what I do. Nothing better to centre you than pure chaos."
Whatever that meant. He stepped back and headed for the door, holding it open for him. "After you." With a grin, he just had to. "Daddy."
"You're a touchy sort, huh? All needy. I always like that." Not that he had any experience with dating anyone, either sex, he knew what he wanted out of people. To be the one people wanted to cling to, that certainly sounded appealing. He sighed and shook his head, taking off ahead of Edward and walking out, not sure what the hell he was fucking doing but here he was, committing career suicide. Or improving it, potentially. Hard to say.
He tuned the guitar as he walked down the hall and then headed out, wondering what the hell it was like to be on stage with that hyped up loon.
Edward let Jonathan go on stage first, not expecting anyone to recognise the man right away and therefore still banking on being the one to get the bigger entrance. If Jonathan seemed all right with it, he could always introduce him later, for that wow effect then. But for now he waited about a minute and thirty-three seconds - or exactly a minute and thirty-three seconds, because he always did - and then he came on stage, catching Query's eyes so she'd know to start.
So far there was only that beat, not any song just yet, so he had time for some introductions and a little taste of what was to come to get the crowd into the right mood. He liked it loud and even if maybe some of the audience didn't quite know what to make of them, there was quite the dedicated group of younger people, mostly girls, who seemed to be getting exactly what they wanted out of this.
Finally he walked right over to stand in front of Jonathan, looking at him as he told him what notes to hit, right before hitting them himself. Hey, it was a good way to test Jonathan's skills, not that he really doubted them, get his voice warmed up and show off his range some.
There was no denying that Edward was talented. He had a showmanship that was unstoppable, a good sense of his audience and he treated every show like it was a one man stage show. It was kind of cute, he loved seeing someone have passion for music. He certainly didn't have it. He copied Edward as best he could, with both the bass and his voice, knowing his voice was a bit too distinctive to be missed. Especially when he felt the need to slip in a little blue yodel to counter balance Edward a little. It was kind of funny to experiment like this.
He licked his lips and met Edward's eyes, trying his best to predict him so he could follow his lead. He didn't want to be in the lead, he didn't want to be the star but he didn't want to be outclassed.
"You are so hot tonight, Jonny!" Eddie didn't care that he said that right into the microphone, it was hard not to just follow the impulse when he watched that man lick his lips. There was something very, very appealing about how Jonathan followed, but also played along, similar to how the thought of how willingly the man had just let him totally transform him was doing things for him.
He moved two steps closer, mostly just to hear some teenage girls scream wildly, then he turned and walked to the edge of the stage, starting his song, knowing that Echo was sure to follow along and decently certain that Jonathan wouldn't struggle either. He still couldn't help it, by the next song he was already too close to Jonathan again, almost serenading him, rather than the crowd. Luckily, people seemed to eat it right up, so who cared? Worked for him.
The songs weren't simply by any means but they didn't exactly stray into anything complicated so it was easy to keep up, easier than he expected. He hadn't really played bass much since his teenage years but apparently, muscle memory and a good sense of rhythm would carry him through. He watched Edward come close to him and his first instinct was to back away but somehow, he forced his feet to stay still as he looked at Edward with a smirk.
Fuck, he was sexy. Those pants were so tight on him, it wasn't fair and -- oh God, was he having a gay crisis on stage? Well, whatever. Today he tried a lot of new things, why not try a crush on a guy. He stopped playing and leaned forward, putting his hands on either side of Edward's face and singing along with him - singing right to him.
That breath hitch wasn't entirely intentional, so Ed laughed it off and pushed Jonathan back with a hand against his chest, walking away a few steps as he kept singing and keot rapidly overthinking that interaction. Or fantasising, yes, that was more what he was doing. Fantasising hard and fast, honestly. No wonder that he was back in front of Jonathan before the song was even over, this time just going on his knees right in front of him.
Something that clearly looked even more suggestive from the audience standpoint, going by the reaction. Ed loved it, looking up at Jon with a rather wicked glint in his eyes and holding the microphone quite suggestively. Hey, he hadn't scared him off yet.
Rolling his eyes, Jonathan gently pushed Edward back with the boot of his shoe, careful to not actually hurt him and keep that suggestive vibe that Edward seemed to live off. He loved playing dirty and dangerous, apparently. Jonathan had never done it before but soon he was thrusting his hips with the guitar at Edward's prone form before moving away from him to continue playing to the crowd.
Well, if he was going to lose his career by being a fairy, may as well own it. He was pretty sure his family would murder him for this later.
That was one way to end the song, on his back, air humping to follow whatever cues Jonathan's body would give him and finally just lying there, arms outstretched and a blissful expression on his face.
When he found his feet again, he held his mic down so he could speak to Jonathan, ever so casually. "You're not incidentally looking to relocate to Gotham, are you? Cause I think I've got a position for you."
He waggled his eyebrows. Of course. "You looked good up there."
"I'm a whore for money, tell me how much and I'm there." Greed, worshipping false Gods, homosexuality - he was wracking up a lot of sins today. He smirked at Edward and wiped some of the sweat off his forehead while he watched this ridiculously addictive man just ruin his entire world. In the best way. He laughed and turned his head, looking into the crowd and wondering if his dad was watching. His manager or his agent. Anyone.
Probably. They were going to kill him. He leaned into Edward and whispered into his ear - something that looked like a cheek kiss and made people scream like crazy. "I gotta get the fuck outta dodgy so I'm coming with you. No isn't an option."
"Guaranteeing you a contract, darling. My manager's gonna love you, he likes when someone brings out my--" Ed looked for the right kind of word that would truly bring it across without just using 'twink', so he finally just gave up and shrugged. "That flair."
Well, it sold well and it was gay, that was about everything Oswald desired in life, in his experience. He reached up with one hand to play with Jonathan's hair, carding his fingers through it. Beautiful. "Let's see how high my voice can get tonight."
Right, because he should probably perform a song again too. Not that the flirting wasn't fun for all.
"Let's see, shall we? Now, next song. Don't keep the public waiting."
Jonathan had a lot to think over but he could think on it when he was in the back of Edward's car? Van? Bus? He didn't care. He was going to run. He knew he couldn't stay hidden forever but he could quit his contract, fire his manager and parents and run off to Gotham of all fucking places. Why the hell not? Seemed better than this.
