Edward set the coke bottle down in front of her, then bent down to kiss her cheek before sitting down in the chair next to her, crossing his legs. He reached for a fry and looked around, already trying to decide where he'd be able to win the most the fastest while having fun and giving Echo something to watch. "That's the fanciest arcade I've ever been to. The floor is barely sticky."
"It's aimed at families so they have to have a certain quality. Means there's more kids but nicer floors and some really good pizza. I ordered some, it'll come soon." She smiled at Edward and ate another fry, reaching out to put her hand on his leg. "You know, Eddie, I wanna have something cute to cuddle. Win me a unicorn." She hoped he could pull it off, she really wanted something to show off with.
"Sooo, now I have you in person, lemme ask you. If I live somewhere else without my family prying, wanna crash there? Not all the time but like, as you wish? You could leave stuff." It was a relationship thing, just a favour to a friend.
"...it's a potential." Which Edward realised was a strange way of talking about anything, but that was how he thought about it, another avenue opening up in the roadmap toward the future he decided. He looked at her and smiled. "I'd want to visit you anyway. If anything, I believe you could probably use a hand getting organised."
She was not good at that. But then, he didn't think she really wanted to be good at that. "I'll live with Jonathan. One day."
"The sullen boy who hates me? Don't worry, I don't take it personally. I assume he hates everyone." Jonathan was not a warm sort of person, he treated everyone but Edward as a distraction who was just in his way. She found it hard to feel like it was directed at her but she did feel he hated her an extra special bit. He often called her an idiot and not worth Edward's time. Very loudly. Right in front of her.
"You and Jonathan have a weird relationship, you know?"
"He is a rude bastard. I think he really does hate everyone." Except for him, obviously, which was quite satisfying to know. He liked Jonathan, loved Jonathan, of course he did. He was one of the most intelligent people he'd ever met, he had a fascinating mind and he could keep up with him. Besides, it was flattering to be liked by someone who essentially despised the world. "What's so weird about it? We're friends. He's simply defensive, he doesn't have an easy life."
"If you were a girl and I was a guy and we sort of... made this whole thing simpler then I'd assume Jonathan was jealous. He looks at me like other girls look at me when I flirt with their boyfriends. Or how Lucius Fox looks at me whenever I'm near Victor. True story, watch next time and you'll see the look. It's very specific." She knew the look of a jealous lover/crush not wanting her all over their man. And Jonathan smacked of that whole vibe.
"If I didn't know any better, I'd think Johnny was jealous."
"Eh. Jonny doesn't even like when I stand too close. I reckon he's tired of being called a faggot." Which Edward could understand, especially since it wasn't as if Jonathan had a girlfriend he could make out with - or two girlfriends? It confused even him. Certainly stopped people from calling Edward gay though, which was fairly close-minded, because he had the suspicion that he wasn't straight either. "Lucius Fox is totally jealous of any girl near Victor though. Or any girl Victor has made out with before. Which, to be fair, are quite the number."
"I'm just saying. Maybe he isn't. Maybe he's not into you at all but I would bet money on it. I am sure he's into you. It's in his eyes, hard to miss. I know the look." She leaned forward and playfully, she stroked Edward's lower lip with a flirty smile. "You have it sometimes but not quite. You're not in love with me, you just love playing. I like that more, actually. I'm not good at settling or dating. I am good at this."
She loved that Edward was just a game, made it less real. "I've been told I have commitment issues. What do you think? I think I'm just flighty as hell."
"I believe the error here is to call it an issue." Edward smiled at her, then parted his lips to lightly nip her finger while he looked into her eyes. It was fun to play, he couldn't disagree with her stance at all. "I'm committed to showing you a good time. Isn't that enough?"
And he was not sure what to make of what she'd said about Jonathan. He assumed that she was just making assumptions and projecting. "Still want that unicorn?"
She pushed Edward towards the game she wanted and gave him some coins, sitting on the edge of the table to watch him and cheer him on. She only beckoned him back when she had a plushy coming her way, also, she had pizza. Holding up the carton, she grinned at him. "Hey, you want some pizza, winner?"
"Ohh, pizza? Ignore what I said before, let's get married." Edward grinned and pulled the chair close, dropping down in it and holding out the unicorn to her to playfully nuzzle her cheek. He reached for a slice of pizza and took a bite of it, looking at her with amusement. "I've thought about it. Picture a threesome with Jonathan."
"Picture making love to a broom? Gotcha." Rolling her eyes, she shoved him and then stole the unicorn, hugging it instead. "Let's just call this cute guy Johnny. Jojo. Jojo Jonathan the unicorn." Perfection. She cuddled it close and looked lovingly at Edward. "I love you, babe. I just don't think I'll ever truly find it in my heart to love and adore Jonathan. Maybe just the unicorn."
